Bear Warning

Like I said in my Real Quick posting earlier today that we were going to do an 18 mile hike... well we didn't. When the hubs is home he likes to just be at home, since he works outside all day. Anyway... So he sat around or I should say lounged around all day watching sports on T.V. we don't have cable so he loved it. I spent most of my day lying outside in the sun, with the hubs on the couch and I even baked come cookies. My IL's have a very nice stove/oven that is restaurant quality because my FIL loves to cook, and I couldn't even figure out how to turn on the oven... even though I use to work in a restaurant. I had to have the hubs help me figure it out... good thing he was around. The cookies turned out really good. Don't worry I only ate one.

So this evening after dinner around 7:30 the hubs tells me to get ready to go for a hike... are you kidding me? I wanted to go earlier and now you want to go... whatever. It was still sunny and warm out and yes in Alaska you can hike at any time of the day. So we got to Eagle River Valley at around 8pm with the dogs in tow. We knew that there were going to be bear warning signs and sure enough.... spring time in Alaska. I was freaked out the whole time and we did a trail that I hadn't been on since I was a kid and the hubs had never been on it... anyway... lets just say at times I was walking so fast so we could get back.. The hubs kept talking about bears and trying to freak me out. Until I yelled at him (only because that’s what you are supposed to do so the bears know you are there). Some parts of this 'hike/walk' were really wooded and branches would break and freak me out. I know I am big baby... but hello there was no CELL phone reception and yes I didn't want to be a bear’s dinner.

I am glad we went on the walk though because I couldn't exactly work out today like planned. I started my run on the treadmill, but then the hubs come down... and was distracting me. He tried jumping on the treadmill and then was dancing really funny in front of the T.V. He did however finally go back upstairs but I didn't end up burning as many cals because I kept stopping so I wouldn't hurt myself.

Alright well I should go snuggle with the hubs and find something fun to watch on cable. Right now it’s an old James Bond movie.
