Restaurant Foods

I was sitting here watching T.V. and browsing the Internet and I came across an article about the worst sandwiches in America, and then I read another one about the worst 20 foods. And it got me to thinking... is that really what I use to eat? Is that really what I use to put in my body? And even today when I went to Subway and got a 6inch turkey sub on whole wheat, I still felt like I was eating something I shouldn't be. Its not like I am some kind of freak who isn't going to eat anything unhealthy, because trust me.... I make things I want to eat for dinner like tacos, and shepherd pie, and pork tenderloin. I just eat smaller portions.

The question to ask yourself is, when you're at a restaurant how do you make yourself stop and not eat the whole burger or the whole chimi? The easy thing to do is cut it in half. And don't order a salad because if you think about it salad doesn't fill you up at all. I eat a side salad with almost every meal though, and salads are one of my favorite foods. But I finally figured out that they don't fill me up and they just make me want to eat again in five minutes.

Do you know that in Seattle and other states they put the calories on their menus, and I remember while in NYC I hated it. But now I am thinking it would be a great idea here too, or where ever I was living. I think it would be amazing, I would be more aware of what I was eating... I don't know if it helps people stay more healthy in those states that do it, but I love the idea.

Its funny how just trying to eat healthy is a science and its difference for each and every person. And trying to figure out what is the 'right' way to eat healthy for you is going to be hard, but its worth it. I love the fact that I don't eat after 8pm, it makes me feel better about myself, and smaller portions for each meal is the best thing that anyone could have ever mentioned to me.
