I love the fact that I can get so much reading done at my husband's hockey games. I know, I know. I should be watching him play, but honestly its a men's league (aka: beer league), and it can get really boring. I haven't been to a game in awhile because I am been going to bed at 9pm and they have been having a lot of games at 10pm, but the other night I sucked it up and went to an 8:30pm game. Yeah I was tired the next morning, but hey its what you do for love right.
So I moved right through chapters, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and I am am half way through chapter 6. The author pretty much takes about diagnosing and all about insulin resistance syndrome (IRS). And then he went on to talk about the seriousness of other disease or risks from having PCOS; things like Type 2 Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and risks, Uterine Cancer and Hyperplasia.
Let me just start out by saying this: If you don't get your weight and PCOS under control, its scary what you could possibly be risking.
Diabetes: As soon as I was diagnosed with PCOS I went and got tested for diabetes because it runs in my family, I was lucky enough to not have it. Type 2 diabetes is the most common kind of diabetes out there.
Uterine Cancer: We women who have PCOS are severely more likely than other women to develop uterine cancer, which is caused by our high male hormone levels that create the lack of ovulation.
